Description

The vineyards supplying Prado Enea are located between 550 and 700 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone and alluvial soils in northwestern Rioja Alta, including the villages of Sajazarra, Cellorigo and Fonzaleche. Altitude, thermal amplitude and natural drainage ensure slow ripening, preserving acidity and aromatic precision.

Prado Enea is always harvested last, from the highest and latest-ripening sites of the denomination. Grapes are handpicked with double selection: first in the vineyard and then at the winery using an optical sorting table.

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats with gentle pump-overs and a maceration period of 14–16 days, extracting structure while maintaining finesse. The wine then ages for a minimum of 36 months in oak barrels, predominantly French oak with a small proportion of American oak to enhance complexity. Barrel production and toast control are managed internally by Bodegas Muga’s in-house cooperage, ensuring precise wood integration.

Before bottling, the wine is clarified with fresh egg whites following traditional Rioja practice. It then undergoes a minimum of 36 months of bottle ageing prior to release.

The 2016 vintage was exceptional in both volume and quality, defined by elegance, vibrant acidity and long ageing potential. With 14.5% alcohol, pH 3.6 and 5.25 g/L total acidity, it displays outstanding balance. Full-bodied yet fine-boned, complex and nuanced, Prado Enea 2016 has all structural components in proportion for extended and harmonious evolution in bottle.

Tracking: A confirmation email with a tracking number is sent once your order is shipped.
Delivery Conditions: It is the customer’s responsibility to provide an address where the order can be received. If delivery cannot be completed due to reasons attributable to the customer (incorrect address, repeated absence, etc.), reshipping costs will be charged to the customer.

Returns Policy

Return Window: In accordance with consumer regulations, customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 calendar days from receipt of the order, provided that the bottles are in their original, unopened packaging. To exercise this right, customers must notify us in writing via contact form, stating the order number and the products to be returned. Return shipping costs will be borne by the customer, except in the case of defective products or shipping errors.
Withdrawal Exceptions: Returns will not be accepted for opened or tampered bottles, or for personalised products.
Damaged or Incorrect Products: If you receive a damaged product or one different from the item ordered, you must notify us within 24 hours of receipt, attaching photographs of the packaging and the affected product. Vin Finesse will arrange for a replacement or a refund, including any associated shipping.

UNCORK THE EXTRAORDINARY

The expressive, complex and nuanced 2016 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a textbook traditional Rioja in the making. 2016 was a very elegant year, with aging potential, volume and very good acidity and freshness. It's full-bodied but fine-boned, has 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.6 and 5.25 grams per liter acidity. It has terrific balance, with all the components in the right proportion to age superbly in bottle. They have also been working on the selection of wood used. This wine matured in French and American oak barrels for three years, and the oak is super integrated. 127,808 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2020. It was an exceptional year with volume and quality.

Complex aromas of dark fruit with violets, walnuts and chocolate. Classy. It's full-bodied with plush yet fine velvety tannins, and a precise and pointed finish. Juicy and savory. Tight finish. It's very long. This is beautiful now but will be even better in three or four years. Linear and vertical at the same time. Try after 2026.
