Description

Finca Pombeiras 2022 comes from a 0.45-hectare terrace vineyard, planted over 70 years ago with a traditional field blend: 70% Mencía with Brancellao, Merenzao, Garnacha, Mouratón, Negreda, and Sousón. The wine was fermented with 100% whole clusters in large oak barrels and aged 12 months in 500-liter used oak barrels, respecting the integrity of the fruit and the slate-rich terroir.

The nose is ethereal and expressive, with notes of smoke, wild strawberries, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, balanced, and elegant, with fine, firm tannins and nervy acidity. The slate soils gradually assert themselves, giving the wine a mineral-driven character and linearity, promising graceful evolution in the bottle.

Only 800 bottles were produced, bottled in July 2024.

Delivery Conditions: It is the customer’s responsibility to provide an address where the order can be received. If delivery cannot be completed due to reasons attributable to the customer (incorrect address, repeated absence, etc.), reshipping costs will be charged to the customer.

Returns Policy

Return Window: In accordance with consumer regulations, customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 calendar days from receipt of the order, provided that the bottles are in their original, unopened packaging. To exercise this right, customers must notify us in writing via contact form, stating the order number and the products to be returned. Return shipping costs will be borne by the customer, except in the case of defective products or shipping errors.
Withdrawal Exceptions: Returns will not be accepted for opened or tampered bottles, or for personalised products.
Damaged or Incorrect Products: If you receive a damaged product or one different from the item ordered, you must notify us within 24 hours of receipt, attaching photographs of the packaging and the affected product. Vin Finesse will arrange for a replacement or a refund, including any associated shipping.

“There is something ethereal about the 2022 Finca Pombeiras that I like very much. It comes from one of their oldest vineyards, planted with a field blend of 70% Mencía and the rest a myriad of other varieties, Brancellao, Merenzao, Garnacha, Mouratón, Negreda and Sousón. It fermented with 100% full clusters in large barrels and matured in 500-liter barrels for 12 months. The palate is silky and elegant and the tannins very fine, and it's fine-boned and balanced. It has contained ripeness and only 12.5% alcohol. With time in the glass, the character of the slate soils comes through, making it mineral-driven. Only 800 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.”

Pedro Guímaro considers 2022 a very good vintage for his wines. It was a warm and dry year and some started harvesting quite early. But he waited, and there was some rain, and around September 20th he picked the grapes. The wines have lower alcohol and more freshness—the Pombeiras has a surprising 12.5% alcohol, the lowest for a very long time!
