Description

Château Suduiraut is one of the historic benchmarks of Sauternes, located in Preignac on gravelly-sandy soils mixed with clay, just below Château d’Yquem. The estate spans 88 hectares, planted predominantly with Sémillon (87%), a decisive factor in the wine’s density, texture and ageing capacity.

Since its acquisition by AXA Millésimes in 1992, and particularly under Christian Seely’s leadership, production has shifted toward uncompromising quality and strict parcel selection. Under technical director Pierre Montégut, viticulture and élevage have been refined: no green harvesting, improved soil management and barrel maturation adapted to vintage profile.

The 2017 vintage (94% Sémillon, 6% Sauvignon Blanc) was matured for 18 months in 50% new oak and 50% one-year barrels. It contains 140 g/L of residual sugar. Aromatically, it is more floral than 2015 or 2016, offering orange blossom, white flowers, ripe peach, dried apricot and lemon curd.

On the palate, it is full-bodied, enveloping and precise. The sweetness is substantial yet balanced by vibrant acidity. Noble rot contributes the characteristic “rôti” note and structural grip, leading to a long, mineral and penetrating finish. A serious Sauternes built for extended ageing, with optimal drinking from 2025 onwards.

Delivery Conditions: It is the customer’s responsibility to provide an address where the order can be received. If delivery cannot be completed due to reasons attributable to the customer (incorrect address, repeated absence, etc.), reshipping costs will be charged to the customer.

Returns Policy

Return Window: In accordance with consumer regulations, customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 calendar days from receipt of the order, provided that the bottles are in their original, unopened packaging. To exercise this right, customers must notify us in writing via contact form, stating the order number and the products to be returned. Return shipping costs will be borne by the customer, except in the case of defective products or shipping errors.
Withdrawal Exceptions: Returns will not be accepted for opened or tampered bottles, or for personalised products.
Damaged or Incorrect Products: If you receive a damaged product or one different from the item ordered, you must notify us within 24 hours of receipt, attaching photographs of the packaging and the affected product. Vin Finesse will arrange for a replacement or a refund, including any associated shipping.

UNCORK THE EXTRAORDINARY

Yum. Aromas of orange blossom, lemon curd, dried apricot and cooked pears fill the glass. It’s full-bodied and very sweet, yet tangy and lively from the vibrant acidity. Extremely long on the finish. Better in 2025, but already a joy to taste.

Just as impressive as it was in barrel, the 2017 Suduiraut is positively dazzling. Pineapple, orange peel, crême brulée, white flowers, honey, apricot and hazelnut are some of the many nuances that develop in the glass. Rich and heady, yet also wonderfully vibrant, the 2017 is developing into a stunning Suduiraut. The 140 grams of residual sugar is very nicely integrated. Only the fruit from the last two picks made it into the Grand Vin.

More floral and elegantly perfumed than its 2015 and 2016 counterparts, the 2017 Suduiraut exhales aromas of white flowers, peaches, plums and ripe orchard fruits. Medium to full-bodied, round and enveloping with a delicate, fleshy core of fruit, it’s perfectly balanced with a stunning "rôti," the consequence of noble rot. It concludes with a long, penetrating and mineral-laden finish, showcasing the wine's youthful expressiveness. This blend of 94% Sémilllon and 6% Sauvignon Blanc contains 140 grams per liter of residual sugar and was matured for 18 months in a combination of new oak barrels and one-year-old barrels, split evenly.
