Description

Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux sits on the same limestone plateau as neighbouring Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne. Vines have grown here since Roman times, and by the 4th century the wines of the area were known as far away as Rome; the town of Castillon itself gave its name to the 1453 Battle of Castillon, which ended the Hundred Years' War and English rule over Aquitaine. Classified as an AOC since 1935 — first as Côtes de Castillon, and as Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux since 2008 — the appellation combines gravelly soils near the river with clay-limestone slopes and, at its highest points, the same limestone plateau that underpins the great wines of Saint-Émilion.

The Bécot family has been rooted in Saint-Émilion since 1760 and today owns Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, a Premier Grand Cru Classé. In February 2001, Juliette Bécot led the family's acquisition of this Castillon property, then just 5.4 hectares; through further purchases it has grown to nearly 15 hectares of clay-limestone soil, including a parcel of Cabernet Franc planted in 1870. New gravity-flow cellars, built in 2002 around custom conical vats, allow a gentle, precise vinification; the wine is aged across a mix of new oak barrels, vats, amphorae and large wooden tuns.

The 2022 vintage drew strong reviews across the board: Wine Advocate praised its ‘perfumed, vibrant bouquet of iris, lilac, dark berries, licorice and violet’, calling the palate ‘medium to full-bodied, supple and satiny’ with a ‘fresh, ethereal and mouthwatering’ finish, while The Wine Cellar Insider scored it 93 points, noting ‘perfectly ripe, black plums, black cherries, licorice and chocolate.’ Decanter described a wine ‘extremely mineral, graphite, pencil’ on the nose; Wine Spectator also scored the vintage 92 points. A generous, chalky-fresh red built to drink well over the next decade and beyond.

Delivery Conditions: It is the customer’s responsibility to provide an address where the order can be received. If delivery cannot be completed due to reasons attributable to the customer (incorrect address, repeated absence, etc.), reshipping costs will be charged to the customer.

Returns Policy

Return Window: In accordance with consumer regulations, customers have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 calendar days from receipt of the order, provided that the bottles are in their original, unopened packaging. To exercise this right, customers must notify us in writing via contact form, stating the order number and the products to be returned. Return shipping costs will be borne by the customer, except in the case of defective products or shipping errors.
Withdrawal Exceptions: Returns will not be accepted for opened or tampered bottles, or for personalised products.
Damaged or Incorrect Products: If you receive a damaged product or one different from the item ordered, you must notify us within 24 hours of receipt, attaching photographs of the packaging and the affected product. Vin Finesse will arrange for a replacement or a refund, including any associated shipping.

UNCORK THE EXTRAORDINARY

Violets, plums, cherries and licorice fill the nose. From there, the medium-bodied wine is opulent, fruity, deep and dark, with elements of chocolate, black plums, black cherries, spice and licorice on the mid-palate that carry through to the finish. The wine is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Some of the vines used here date back 1870! Drink from 2025-2035.
